i've worked as 5th Engr, for 9 months in a bulk with 5-Stars shipping.
i'm almost done with my class-4 part-B.
I would like 2 get into a Gas Tkr
thinkin of Exmar, Varun, If not NYK, but a problem is tht i've heard they want us 2 do as 5th for 1 contract n then only b promoted,
is there any other means of gettin into gas tanker directly as 4th or atleast as an addnl. 4th for a few months(b/w 3-6) n then b promoted.
n would also like 2 know abt Tanker Pacific(for oil tkrs)

Hey I think it will be difficult to get as 4th directly. Try like joining as 5th and onboard promotion. See if they agree.

I am an old gas tnkr hand I can assure tht almost all companies will take you as a 4th engr today due to an acute shortage of Marine engr... why do u want to go into a company like exmar ????? not good promotion prospects on the other hand u should try with anglo or NYK and I think either one of them will take u hands down no probs as u r starting ur carrer and it is better for them to take officers at junior level rather than at senior level..... fr ur info this is only applicable to GAS i.e. LPG not LNG ... fr that things are completely different .... well try the both companies I hv mentioned above and I feel if not NYK but Anglo should take you without any probs but the wages are not very hot there tht is the only downside of joining anglo as I am in anglo I knw tht...... anyways hope the above was useful for you...
